(Im looking at you, Jude.) For example, when does she really put herself out there and make it clear that she’s also into him? Her actions could be just as ambiguous to him as his are to her. But if you look at events from the opposite perspective, it’s not so obvious to the main love interest. Because we’re in the main character’s head and inner dialogue. I think a lot of times, in fictional romance, to the audience it’s so darn obvious that the main character (Evangeline) is in love with the Main guy (Jacks). I think about this sometimes…no one said they were unwanted, Jacks, no one!
